Merry Christmas! Having Kike officially join the team a couple of years ago was truly a present to the organization. His on-the-ground leadership and inspiration has been impressive to say the least. The WAVES Land next to the school in Lobitos has really come alive (quite literally, with permaculture concepts being introduced and biodigestor grey water irrigating plants) and is an example for other communities to follow in terms of sustainable design. The “Lobitos Desde su Gente” (Lobitos from its people) information and tourism circuit has been a huge collaboration and step in the right direction for tourism to be more sustainable in Lobitos. An active community member and role model in Lobitos, Kike’s impact extends all the way to where he lives – an off-the-grid house, part of the cultural patrimony of the area, run on solar power, complete with one of the few biodigesters in Lobitos (another one is at the WAVES Land). Thanks, Kike, for all you’ve done and how you espouse the WAVES mission in Lobitos! Please support Kike and WAVES as we go into our 10th year of programs in Lobitos.
