Surf Travel Done Different
WAVES inspires world travel and cultural exchange through surf experiences, while collaboratively building a network of partnerships that connect travelers, community members and grassroots initiatives.
Whether you're a beginner or expert surfer, you can find consistent waves to ride in every one of the beautiful locations.
Each day collaborate with the local community and assist on projects. That way once you leave, you'll leave something behind.
From homestay to five star resort, WAVES provides homecooked meals and accommodation to make you feel at home.
Through adventure & water sports, locals develop a special relationship with the sea applying conservation activities in their daily lives.
Through surfing, locals build confidence, stay healthy and foster meaningful relationships while enjoying the coast.
Volunteers contribute to community service activities while enjoying doing what they love: surfing!
WAVES helps coastal communities create educational opportunities for youth using their natural environment.
WAVES believes sustainability contains 4 aspects: ecological, social, political, and economic.
"As I left Lobitos this time, it was with a quiet but irrepressible sense of joy and satisfaction, knowing that Henry will continue to fuel this creative cycle, amplifying and sharing the story of his town and WAVES—the organization that has brought so many good people there to teach and to learn."
"I knew it that I was in the right place. The days were pure fun, a good swell hit Lobitos and we surfed fun waves everyday. Besides that, I helped Javier with the Mini ramp and went to surf and English classes to help the teachers and get in touch with the kids and the community."
This is a fantastic way not only to get surf on a fantastic secluded coast, but also to get to really understand the culture and people of a poor fishing town. You get to interact every day with the townspeople and learn about a way of life that is probably foreign to most.
I had an amazing time at ETCA playing with and getting to know the kids of the community. Lots of "ping pong", laughs, spanglish conversations, and on the last day we made bracelets!

Staying in El Transit, you feel so far removed from the rest of the world with the most consistent break in the whole country, all to yourself. The staff is amazing and will go out of their way to accommodate you in any way
A remarkable small organization making a huge impact on this tiny village!
"The accommodation was really good and defiantly added to my experience. The food was delicious and gave me a "real" experience of living in Peru." I loved that WAVES offered two weeks and was affordable, as most volunteer experiences are expensive or you don't have enough time off to fulfill them."
A great alternative to the Me, Me, Me surf trip: connecting with locals while teaching and learning. Surfing perfect waves in a remote location, but having the company and camaraderie of being part of a team with a goal.
The best trips are those you do not plan for! Thank you for this great experience, in which apart from knowing another culture I had the opportunity to meet great people!
