It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of Raul Tinoco. Raul could easily be considered the grandfather of WAVES in Lobitos.
Raul was the past mayor of Lobitos and a respected community member who continued to fight for recreation and opportunities for young people in Lobitos. He was instrumental in getting a playground and fulbito court built in Nuevo Lobitos, the neighborhood home to our HQ, WAVES Land.
Raul was the preverbal ‘host dad’ to hundreds of travelers who came through Lobitos with WAVES to volunteer. Until recently, with the new Bioconstruction at the WAVES Land, it was at Raul and Meche’s converted home that they stayed. He and his family were always lending a hand, countless tools and household items of their own for WAVES to use.
Today we express our gratitude for their support of the WAVES mission in Lobitos and our deepest sympathies to the Tinoco family.
