Over the last two days we have been blessed with the presence of the Hands & Surf Crew from Zorritos (3hrs North from Lobitos). Hands & Surf is a non-profit organization, originated in Spain, with the aim to help out local communities that are visited often by surfers from all over the world (Check out their new website on http://www.handsandsurfzorritos.org/). With such similar goals a work & pleasure visit was well overdue. Por lo menos, it was great to catch up with old and new friends here in Lobitos.
During their time in Lobitos, we surfed, ate some amazing food, played some incredibly competitive table-football and discussed the opportunities for future cooperation between WAVES and Hands & Surf.
We believe that down the line, both the local communities and our volunteers could benefit from a more diversified experience spread out over two unique coastal communities in Northern Peru.
Over the next couple of months we are going to further explore meaningful ways to add value to both the WAVES program in Lobitos and the activities from Hands & Surf in Zorritos.
A return visit to Zorritos to investigate what they are up over there in the tropical north will be scheduled promptly! I personally can’t wait, because supposedly what’s waiting for us up there is warm water and empty barrels… To be continued…
